Why it is important?

The World Health Organization (WHO) declares doctor digital upskilling “crucial” to solving serious pains in healthcare. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development OECD, the Standing Committee on Doctors in Europe CPME and many other well-respected organizations, and leading healthcare experts also agree doctor digital upskilling is one of the highest priorities.

Digital skills and access to digital health innovation can increase access to preventative care, lifesaving healthcare, lower costs for marginalized populations, and greatly improve the quality of life by bridging a great divide.

Even though many well respected organizations and public health experts agree on the “pain” and solution, sadly, few, if any, real solutions exist.  Global Medical Doctors Validation Association GMDVA together with a multitude of partners and allies decided to create the future we all want to see.

What is the project?

This medical education and continuing professional development project will fund 100 doctors in underserved countries (20 doctor participants in each of 5 countries) in an interactive, 12 week + 1 final action-based proposal Digital Innovation Upskilling Program (DIUP) grounded in two core competencies: Innovative Mindset & Digital Intelligence (DQ) and includes doctor innovators sharing their real-life experiences with real world applications that are immediately relevant.

The DIUP is part of a larger sustainable innovation ecosystem being developed in each country. Your donation will fund grants covering the full program cost. GMDVA provides the foundation and framework of a global ecosystem that includes 100s of partners and alliances to support doctors and their associations, ensuring their success.

GMDVA works through existing GMDVA Certified Doctor Innovator Community Leaders, and their affiliated local medical associations or societies, in the following 5 underserved countries to provide the DIUP to 20 surgeons in each country:

1. Nigeria: Dr. Funmilola Wuraola (West African College of Surgeons/ African Research Group on Oncology); Dr. Musliu Tolani

2. Turkey: Dr. Görkem Akçam

3. Pakistan: Dr. Muhammad Ayaz S/O Zarawar Shah (Pakistan Association of Plastic Surgeons)

4. Iraq: Dr. AWS Adel Al-Hussona (Emergenza Sorrisi)

5. Philippines: Dr. Michael Dennis Dela Paz (Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery)

Dr. Musliu Tolani

Dr. Funmilola Wuraola

Dr. Muhammad Ayaz S/O Zarawar Shah

Dr. AWS Adel Al-Hussona

Dr. Michael Dennis Dela Paz

How will it work?

1.Certified Doctor Innovator Community Leaders Identify 100 Doctors possessing a “Growth Mindset” that would make excellent candidates for the DIUP program to receive the grants. Prospective Doctors complete applications and are selected using several established criteria.

2. 100 Doctor Participants are selected and sign a commitment letter to join and intention to successfully complete the entire program.

3. 100 Doctor Participants receive certification and enter the sustainable “pathways”. Pathways including 3 long term, win-win, incentivizing options such as 1. Becoming a Doctor-Innovator Co-Facilitator themselves 2. Become a Service Provider in the Digital Wellness Program 3. Co-Design/Co-Create with emerging tech partner-providers in the INNOVAHUB. All pathways are intended to enable doctors to develop their own local sustainable innovation ecosystem.

We Invite you to participate in this meaningful social impact project

Building this DIUP program, Digital Health Innovation Platform, and Global Ecosystem took many years, thousands of volunteer hours from a diverse, global, collective team, along with a great deal of outside funding. This allowed GMDVA to lay this important foundation, and achieve many social impact milestones to date, and now we are asking for your help. Everything is in place to reach critical mass for takeoff, and to see the fruits of our labor.

Together, we can have a profound positive impact on enabling doctors and improving the lives of millions of people in underserved areas of the world.

Where does my donation go and How can I follow the progress?

Every dollar of your Tax Free Donation (Tax Deductible in the EU, please check your country’s tax laws) will all go directly towards enabling doctors in these 5 underserved areas to obtain the digital skills they desperately need so they can begin engaging patients to improve their health, wellness and well-being.

GMDVA will share regular updates on the progress and measurable social impact right here on the website and across our social media networks, so you will always know exactly where your hard-earned money is going, what it is being used for and the measurable, positive, social impact that you are having!
